Examples of our work

DEOC provides services and develop projects based on Client’s need.

We undertake audit of policies, procedures and infrastructure to ensure non-discrimination and reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities. We also work on a retainership basis with corporates for policy matters related to disability. We also conduct Policy Research and Evaluation work for organisations.

Some of the organisations with whom we have worked are given below.

Wipro Ltd.

DEOC audited/reviewed Wipro’s people policies, recruitment process, infrastructure, information systems and trainings to make them more inclusive. DEOC also helped them in developing a framework for disability, as part of their diversity strategy and built the capacity of various teams on disability inclusion. DEOC continues to be associated with Wipro and provide them information and advice related to policy, whenever needed.

MphasiS an HP Company

DEOC has provided consulting services to MphasiS (a leading IT firm) in several areas. DEOC developed an Affirmative Action Programme, ‘Project Communicate’, for training and employing people with disabilities from rural areas in their domestic BPO. It lead to recruitment of large number of people with disabilities in the company. We also organised ‘Train the Trainers Programme’ and transferred the module to NGOs, which are conducting similar trainings. We also provided accessibility services to MphasiS to make their physical infrastructure barrier-free for people with disabilities.

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB)

We facilitated the development of a system for providing appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities in Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIMB), a premier management Institute and also helped in setting up the Office of Disability Services (ODS) in the campus. We also conducted a sensitsation session for the faculty on disability inclusion.

National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP)

National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP), which is a leading advocacy organisation in India, takes up several policy issues with the Government for promoting rights of persons with disabilities in the country. They undertake research to back up their advocacy work. DEOC has conducted several important research projects for NCPEDP. The Baseline Studies on Core Disability issues, Research on Disability Question for Census 2011 and the Training Module for Census Enumerators are some of the assignments that we have done for NCPEDP.

National Trust

DEOC evaluated the awareness materials of the Badhte Kadam Project, which aims at creating awareness on developmental disabilities amongst public. Based on our review and recommendations, they made changes to the material.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Karnataka

DEOC partnered with Confederation of Indian Industry, an apex industrial body, to bring out a comprehensive Manual, ‘A Values Route to Business Success – The How and Why of Employing Persons with Disability’.
